Across the harbour to Whitby Abbey
Well-known as being key inspiration for Bram Stoker when writing his novel Dracula, Whitby hosts events such as its steampunk weekend and pirate festival.
You can enjoy the beach, amusements and shops, eat at one of the many fish and chip shops, restaurants or cafes or take the walk up to the Whalebone for beautiful views. While there you could also take a drink in the Fat Badger bar at the Royal Hotel which was built in the late 1840's.
There are also the famous 199 steps to climb up to the Abbey which you can explore (admission fee applies, free to English Heritage members)
